Kanach Yerevan is a volunteer-driven civic initiative. Our primary tool is the Trees of Yerevan application, developed in-house to crowd-map Yerevan's entire urban forest. If you wish to support our mission, please consider contributing to our current needs listed below.
Mapping Technology
Currently, we map trees manually using mobile phone GPS, which is time-consuming and lacks precision. To scale our efforts and improve data quality, we are seeking to upgrade our technical capabilities. Donating the following equipment would significantly advance our work:

RTK Base + Rover ($1,700)
This calibrated surveyor kit provides centimeter-level GPS accuracy, connecting to mobile phones as an external receiver. It eliminates the need to estimate tree locations based on nearby landmarks, ensuring precise geospatial data. We will also use this precision to correct underlying OpenStreetMap (OSM) data, benefiting the wider mapping community.

A mobile 3D scanner like Foxtech / Stonex SLAM100, or something similar.

Meadow Lawn Seeds (2,500+ AMD)
Throughout the growing season (Spring–Autumn), we assist residents in establishing meadow lawns on small urban plots. Our goal is to introduce this low-maintenance, biodiverse alternative to Yerevan, demonstrating its viability and resilience in our climate.

Trees for Planting ($200+)
In 2026, we are launching a campaign to liberalize citizen-funded tree planting. To succeed, we must submit a significant volume of requests to city officials to demonstrate tangible public demand. If you wish to back this initiative, your financial contribution will fund the purchase and planting of trees by our volunteers. A standard sapling costs between 50,000 and 80,000 AMD.
